Be a Mentor

As a Volunteer Mentor, you’ll offer guidance, friendship, and encouragement to youth (between the ages of 6-21) who can benefit from being a positive role model. Mentorship helps a mentee build confidence, improve school performance, and foster healthy relationships.

Why Become a Mentor?

Growing up isn’t always easy. Many young people face challenges like loneliness, bullying, low self-esteem, or family struggles through no fault of their own. Having a trusted adult mentor- someone who listens, believes in them, and shows they matter- can change everything.

As a Big Brother or Big Sister, you’ll form a meaningful connection through simple, consistent moments: activities, shared experiences, and conversations that build trust and confidence. Every match is supported by our trained mentoring case workers to ensure relationships are safe, positive, and rewarding for both mentor and mentee.

Our mentoring programs connect youth of all backgrounds- including girls, non-binary, transgender, and gender-diverse young people- with caring adult mentors who provide encouragement, guidance, and friendship. These mentors become trusted role models, offering a safe and supportive space where youth can build confidence, resilience, and a sense of belonging.

Research shows that youth with mentors thrive- 93% feel better about themselves, they’re three times less likely to experience social anxiety, and many wish they’d had someone like you. By becoming a mentor, you’ll help a young person reach their potential and strengthen our community one connection at a time.
